You don't lose any Apple features by jailbreaking; it just voids your warranty. If you have to bring the phone to Apple for some reason, you just need to "un-jailbreak" it by restoring the iPhone.

I've had an iPhone 3GS for awhile now and I'm considering j'breaking it. I want to know if I break it can I restore it if there is a problem. And do I lose any of the Apple features by j'breaking? Thanks.

JailbreakMe produced one of the easiest hack after being dormant for years. The exploit is being downloaded on your iOS device as a .pdf file, and then executed by the system , the whole process takes less than 1 min.

I would recommend to change the default password on your iphone ('alpine') and patch the PDF exploit using ssh. (I am waiting for the cydia release)
